Coming to Houston by air

Houston is serviced by two major airports, George Bush International Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) .

George Bush International Airport (IAH)
is Houston's largest airport located approximately 23 miles north of the conference location.  IAH is served by 17 passenger airlines, and is the largest hub airport for Continental Airlines. 185 domestic and international destinations are accessible through direct flights from IAH.  For more information on the George Bush International Airport, visit  http://www.fly2houston.com/iah

We have organized special airfare discounts with Continental Airlines. When booking, use the code ZDZEBRJFBQ. Details about the discount are contained here.

Hobby Airport (HOU) is located approximately 7 miles  southeast of downtown Houston.  HOU is served by 5 passenger airlines and is the largest hub airport for Southwest Airlines.  For more information on the William P. Hobby Airport, visit  http://www.fly2houston.com/hobbyHome

Airport Transfers

Shuttle services

There are several airport shuttle services from both airports, including Super Shuttle and Airport Express Shuttle.  All have counters at both airports.

Super Shuttle's normal one-way shared van cost to/from IAH is $24 per person, and $19 to/from Hobby.  Super Shuttle will also accommodate transfers to and from private residences.

Airport Express shuttle service rates are comparable but will only accept hotel destinations.

Group rates are available for shuttle services.

Airport Express: http://www.airportexpresshouston.com/ or call (713) 523-8888.

Taxis

Fares from Hobby Airport to the Museum District vary from $24-$28 (plus tip). From  Intercontinental, the fare is capped at $51 (plus tip). Please note that if you are arriving with a group of conference participants, it may be more cost-effective to split the taxi fare rather than utilize the shuttle service. The taxi driver will not necessarily tell you that there is a cap on the fare, but there is information in the back of the cab on the zones.

The following taxi services operate out of both airports:

Airport Taxi Service: (281) 444-TAXI
Liberty Cab: (713) 695-6700
Yellow Cab: (713) 236-1111

Public Transport

METRO, which is Houston's public transport service, has a new service called Airport Direct offering that offers a direct bus to and from IAH and downtown. The non-stop ride, estimated to take approximately 30 minutes, cost $15 one way. The service runs daily from the Airport Direct Passenger Plaza (across from the Downtown Transit Center, 1900 Main, to IAH from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and southbound from IAH to downtown from 6:10 a.m. to 8:40 p.m. More information is available here. You can connect to other METRO rail and bus destinations from downtown. If you are staying at the conference hotel, you can catch the southbound METRO rail to the Museum District stop, which is the closest. Here is a route map.

METRO also provides other bus routes from both airports to downtown and the areas close to the conference site. However, note that these routes are indirect. The trip from IAH will take almost 2 hours, while from Hobby it will take approximately 45 minutes.
